Privacy Policy

Effective Date: February 27, 2026

Last Updated: February 27, 2026

BookVoice (the "App") respects your privacy and prioritizes the protection of your data. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects and how it is used.

The App does not require account registration and does not collect sensitive personally identifiable information such as your name, phone number, or home address.

1. On-Device File Processing and Security (Local-Only Principle)

The most important principle of BookVoice is the protection of user content.

File Access and Processing: All text, PDF, EPUB files loaded by users, as well as text-to-speech (TTS) processing, are handled 100% locally on the user's device.

No Server Upload: No user files or content are transmitted, stored, or shared with the developer's external servers or third parties.

Data Sync: The App currently does not provide cloud synchronization (including iCloud). Reading progress and related data are stored only on the user's device. If the App is deleted, such local data may also be removed.

2. Information Collected and Purpose of Use (Anonymous Data)

To improve service quality, fix bugs, and maintain stable operation, the App uses third-party analytics tools to collect anonymized data only. This data is not used to personally identify users.

Google Analytics for Firebase / Firebase Crashlytics

Purpose of Collection: Identify crash causes and analyze usage statistics (for example, visit frequency and feature usage rates) to improve user experience (UX)

Data Collected: Device model, OS version, app version, crash-time log data, anonymized installation identifiers, etc.

3. Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services for anonymous analytics and crash analysis described in Section 2. You can review each provider's privacy policy at the links below.

Firebase Crashlytics Privacy Policy

4. Data Retention and Use Period

The App does not operate user accounts and does not store user files/content on separate servers. Anonymous or pseudonymous diagnostic data collected through analytics tools may be retained according to each provider's policy and applicable law.

Local app data (for example, reading progress) is stored only on the user's device and may be deleted according to the operating system policy when the App is removed.

5. International Data Transfer

Some third-party services used by the App, including Google Firebase, may process data on servers located outside your country.

Recipient: Google LLC (Firebase)

Destination Country: United States and others (subject to service operation policy)

Data Transferred: App usage statistics, crash logs, and other anonymous/pseudonymous diagnostic data

Purpose of Transfer: Service stability, error analysis, and quality improvement

Retention/Use Period: Subject to third-party policies and applicable laws

6. User Rights and How to Exercise Them

Users may request access, correction, deletion, and restriction of processing of personal data to the extent provided by applicable law. However, since the App does not operate user-identifiable accounts, device-level actions (such as deleting/reinstalling the App or changing OS settings) may be the primary way to exercise these rights.

We will respond within a reasonable scope without undue delay.

7. Security Measures

The developer applies the following measures to protect personal data and user content.

Maintaining the local-only processing principle for user content

Applying secure transmission measures (including encrypted communication)

Minimizing access permissions and enforcing internal access control

Following data minimization principles for logs and analytics data

8. Children's Privacy

The App can be used by all age groups and does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. Other than anonymized data collected through third-party analytics tools (such as Firebase) in accordance with app store policies, no child-identifiable data is collected.

9. Behavioral Data: Collection, Use, and Opt-Out

The App does not directly collect behavioral data for targeted advertising. However, de-identified statistics may be processed through analytics tools, and users may limit certain collection through operating system settings, app permissions, or tracking preferences.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

The developer may revise this Privacy Policy due to legal updates or app feature changes. If changes are made, the updated policy will be posted on this page.
